Venom 2 trailer gives first look at Carnage

Sony Pictures Entertainment released the first trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

The film will be directed by Andy Serkis, known for his portrayal of Gollem in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and written by Kelly Marcel.

From the trailer, it looked like this movie will pick up right on the heels of Venom (2018), with Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote living as partners.

The trailer also featured a Spider-Man easter egg with a man reading the Daily Bugle newspaper.

But, while speaking with IGN, Serkis said that the characters in Venom 2 exist separate from Spider-Man and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“We’re treating this very much as it’s his own world,” Serkis said.

Serkis hinted that there would be other nods to Spider-Man within the film, but that overall, the Venom 2 characters are unaware of Spider-Man as of now.

The trailer gave a first look at Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrleson) as Carnage.

The trailer also featured Ravencroft, which in the comics was the institute that specialized in treating superhuman criminals. This is basically Marvel’s version of Arkham Asylum. Inside, we get a glance of Frances Barrison, played by Naomie Harris, also known as Shriek. Shriek has sound manipulation powers and teams up with Carnage in the comics.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage will release in theaters Sep. 24. Check out the trailer below.
