Brendan Fraser joins ‘Batgirl’ cast as Firefly
Brenden Fraser has joined the cast of HBO Max’s Batgirl movie as the main antagonist, according to Deadline.
Fraser will most likely be playing Garfield Lynns, AKA Firefly, a pyrotechnics expert who uses his knowledge to commit robberies and arson.
He will be joining the small cast including Leslie Grace as Barbra Gordon, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Jacob Scipio, currently in an unnamed role.
Batgirl will be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who previously worked together on Bad Boys for Life, Black and Gangsta. The movie will be written by Christina Hodson, known for her work on Bumblebee, Birds of Prey and the upcoming DCEU movie, The Flash.
Fraser, best known for his role as Rick O’Connell in The Mummy trilogy, is no stranger to the DC Universe. He is currently playing Cliff Steele/ Robot Man in the HBO Max series, Doom Patrol.
Next year is shaping up to be a big year for the DC Universe. With Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, The Flash, Black Adam, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Peacemaker, the franchise is becoming a force to be reckoned with. Joining that lineup, Batgirl will be released on HBO Max in 2022.
