A free community-made mod introduces a third portal to Portal 2
Portal Reloaded is a new community-made mod free to all players who already own Portal 2.
In the game, players will play as Test Subject [4-5-0-9] who, after being awoken from stasis by an automated AI, must complete an unknown and forgotten test course within the depths of Aperture Science.
Portal Reloaded features 25 new puzzles, three different portals, two different timelines to explore, over 100 custom voice lines, new music and new unique puzzle mechanics.
Portal 2 initially released April 18, 2011, with Portal Reloaded releasing almost exactly 10 years later on April 19, 2021.
Building off the fundamentals of the base game, Portal Reloaded introduces a third portal, appearing as a green rectangle, that allows players to travel between the present and a different timeline set 20 years in the future. This will be essential in solving the 25 puzzles which requires, as the game’s tagline states, “thinking in four dimensions.”
So far, the game has been met with praise on Steam with a resounding 97% of its user reviews being positive.
It might be time for Portal veterans to dust off their Portal guns and head back to Aperture Science. Check out the game’s launch trailer below.
