Critical Role’s ‘The Legend of Vox Machina’ Debuts Red Band Trailer

Prime Video has released the red band trailer for The Legend of Vox Machina, an upcoming animated fantasy series.

The series is closely based on the online web series Critical Role, where a group of professional voice actors gather and stream themselves playing Dungeons & Dragons. Since its launch in 2015, Critical Role has become widely popular, bringing the ’80s table top game back onto the forefront of pop culture. The Legend of Vox Machina will follow the Critical Role group in their first campaign, centering on the Briarwood story arc.

Check out the trailer below.

The group of heroes known as Vox Machina stars Ashley Johnson as Gnome Cleric Pike Trickfoot, Laura Bailey as Half-Elf Ranger Vex’ahlia Vessar, Liam O’Brien as Half-Elf Rogue Vax’ildan Vessar, Travis Willingham as Goliath Barbarian Grog Strongjaw, Sam Riegel as Gnome Bard Scanlan Shorthalt, Marisha Ray as Half-Elf Druid Keyleth, Taliesin Jaffe as Human Gunslinger Percival de Rolo, and Matthew Mercer as Sylas Briarwood.

The series takes place in Exandria, the fictional world that Critical Role’s DM Matthew Mercer created for his personal D&D campaign back in 2012. Fans of Critical Role may recognize other important characters and events from the trailer from the web series’ Campaign One.

The first season will feature 12 episodes. The first 10 episodes were funded through a Kickstarter campaign, with a second season being greenlit back in 2019.

The Legend of Vox Machina will be available to stream on Prime Video Jan. 28.
