First Look at ‘The Witcher’ Prequel ‘Blood Origin’

Netflix has released a trailer for their prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin. Blood Origin takes place during the Elven Golden Era,1200 years before the events in The Witcher (2019).

The series will follow seven strangers who band together to stop the empire that has taken control of the continent. Blood Origin will detail the creation of the first Witcher, the events precipitating the “Conjunction of the Spheres,” and the Elven civilization before its downfall.

The Witcher: Blood Origin stars Michelle Yeoh, Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain, Lenny Henry, Mirren Mack, Nathaniel Curtis, Dylan Moran, Jacob Collins-Levy, and many more. The series was created by Declan De Barra (The Witcher, Iron Fist) and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (The Witcher, The West Wing, Daredevil (2016)) and based on the Witcher novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski.

After the news that Henry Cavill was departing The Witcher series after season 3, it will be interesting to see audience reactions to Blood Origin and the future of Netflix’s The Witcher universe.

The Witcher: Blood Origin will be a four-part mini-series premiering on Dec. 25 on Netflix. Have yourself a monster-slaying Merry Christmas.
