Knives Out – 4/5 stars

I suspect foul play, and I have eliminated no suspects.

When the famous and wealthy mystery author Harlan Thrombey is killed under unusual circumstances, Beniot Blanc is put on the case to find the truth in what really happened. To do so, he must question each of the members of the dysfunctional family, all of whom would have a motive and are a potential suspect. A classic Whodunit with twists and turns in the pursuit of the truth.

I don’t watch mystery movies too often but I definitely enjoyed Knives Out. The last mystery movie I saw was probably Murder on the Orient Express, which I also liked. I was sad that I missed Knives Out when it was released to theaters last Thanksgiving, but glad I finally got to see it for free on Amazon Prime Video.

I thought the movie was exciting and well-paced. I never really felt bored or that the movie was progressing too slowly. There was a great cast with great performances from Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, and Daniel Craig. Although they were interesting roles, with Craig as the quirky private investigator with a strong southern draw and Evans as the bad boy, it was nice to see them both in roles other than James Bond and Captain America. The movie also included Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, and Don Johnson.  And while I admit that The Last Jedi had its flaws, Rian Johnson did a great job with a compelling story in the mystery genre.

I would give this film 4/5 stars and recommend you check it out if you like mystery movies and haven’t seen this one yet. I think it might’ve been a little over hyped from what I heard from others. It wasn’t anything extraordinarily but I still enjoyed it and am glad I saw it.
