Marvel Studios nocks ‘Hawkeye’ for an action-packed Winter release

Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for their upcoming Hawkeye original series.

The series will star Jeremey Renner in his return to the role of Hawkeye and introduce Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. In addition, the series will feature Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring), Zahn McClarnon (Longmire), Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, Tony Dalton (Better Call Saul) and Fra Fee (Les Misérables).

The show is written by Jonathan Igla (Mad Men, Bridgerton), Tanner Bean and Katrina Mathewson (Christmas Ever After, Pitch).

Check out the trailer below.

Based on the trailer, Clint Barton is trying to make up for lost time with his family around the holidays. But when a masked vigilante dressed as Ronin takes to the streets, he goes to investigate and comes face-to-face with Kate Bishop, one of his biggest fans.

Hawkeye is the fifth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following the events in Avengers: Endgame. The series will continue Marvel’s Phase Four and most likely feature the mantle of Hawkeye being passed on to Kate Bishop.

Although we didn’t see any sign of her in the trailer, Alaqua Cox’s character, Maya Lopez, is also Marvel Comics character Echo, a deaf Native American who can perfectly copy another person’s movements. Variety reported that an Echo spin-off show is in development for Disney Plus.

Hawkeye will consist of six episodes and premiere Nov. 24 on Disney Plus.
