Netflix’s live-action ‘Cowboy Bebop’ teaser puts the ‘70s in 2071

Netflix released a teaser for the live-action adaptation of the Japanese anime Cowboy Bebop.

Check it out below.

The series takes place in the year 2071 and follows a crew of bounty hunters traveling across the galaxy in their spaceship, Bebop, hunting down criminals. From the trailer, it looks like they were going for a cheesy retro ‘70s vibe. I mean, it does take place in the 2070s, so it actually makes sense.

The series will star John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine, Alex Hassell as Vicious and Elena Satine as Julia. The series is being developed by André Nemec, known for his work on Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and Life on Mars

The original animated series consists of 26 episodes and was originally aired from 1998 to 1999. The anime drew inspiration from Western, Sci-fi and Noir themes, and is critically praised as one of the greatest animated series of all time.

Cowboy Bebop will have 10 one-hour episodes and will be available to stream on Netflix Nov. 19. Prior to the live action adaptation’s release, the animated series will arrive on Netflix Oct. 21, so now’s your chance to get all caught up if you haven’t yet.
