Reads & Reels blog review

Reads & Reels is another fellow movie reviewer on WordPress who focuses on reviewing books and movies. Beginning the blog February 3, 2016, I’m impressed with the amount of content she has and how well she’s kept up with it. Reads & Reels posts just about daily with reviews and recommendations for books and movies. She provides a unique and trustworthy viewpoint on content that I might not otherwise see. There are some good suggestions here that I wouldn’t have even know about without this blog and would definitely recommend checking it out.

Regarding her “The MEG” review, I really liked the use of multiple pictures. If you hadn’t yet heard of the movie, the pictures, along with the movie review, give an excellent idea of what the movie is about and whether or not you should consider checking it out. I also appreciate her saying the book is way better than the movie because I didn’t even know that “The MEG” was based on a book. She includes a link to Goodreads for the book and author as well as a link to her review over the book, all of which are very helpful. Along with that link, she includes links to the IMDb pages for the main actors and director, so you can go and check out their other work. I think it’s also helpful how she includes the rating and run time of the movie. All of these tools, along with the movie review itself, are very helpful in determining if you’d want to see this movie and any extra information you might want to know about it.

Reads & Reels’ blog has an interesting voice and opinion about the movie, and it’s all backed up with concrete reasoning. Like how she said this movie is a “poor imitation of JAWS” because of how much material from the book was left out. I like her dual perspective, from having both read the book and seen the movie, that she can compare the two. Her review was pretty brief but clearly gets her thoughts across about her opinion of the movie and whether or not she’d recommend it. And based on her recommendation, I think I will skip the movie and instead consider reading the book the movie was based on.
