‘The Pale Blue Eye’ Trailer Has Christian Bale Aided By Edgar Allan Poe to Solve Murder Mystery

Netflix has released a trailer for their upcoming murder mystery, The Pale Blue Eye. The movie takes place in 1830 and follows Augustus Landor (Christian Bale), a retired detective who is called to solve a murder at West Point. Met with resistance, Landor teams up with a young cadet named Edgar Allan Poe (Harry Melling) to solve the mysterious murders.

Based on the 2003 novel of the same name, The Pale Blue Eye is directed by Scott Cooper, best known for his work on Crazy Heart (2009), Out of the Furnace (2013), and Hostiles (2017). Cooper previously worked with Bale on Out of the Furnace and Hostiles. Alongside Bale and Melling, the film will star Gillian Anderson, Fred Hechinger, Toby Jones, Lucy Boynton, and Robert Duvall.

The Pale Blue Eye will release in select theaters on Dec. 23, followed quickly by a Netflix release on Jan. 6, 2023.
