Vault of Glass is Returning in Destiny 2’s Season of the Splicer

Bungie Inc. released a gameplay trailer of the upcoming fourteenth season, Season of the Splicer.

In this season, the Vex have used a simulation found deep within their network to plunge the Last City into endless night. Ikora and Osiris task players with finding Mithrax, one of the last Sacred Splicers with his own ties to the Light, before the Vex do.

Season of the Splicer will have a new 6-player seasonal activity with matchmaking called Override. Override will involve players using splicer tech to hack into the Vex network to uncover their secrets, steal their code and use it against them. 

There will also be a new weekly pinnacle mission called Expunge, where Guardians will uncover vulnerabilities within the Vex network and, using splicer keys, infiltrate and collapse it from within.

Also included with this season, and free to all players, is the return of the fan-favorite Vault of Glass raid. Here, Guardians must enter the Vault of Glass and navigate through the fractures of time and space to defeat Atheon, Time’s Conflux, before he becomes unstoppable.

Season 14 will introduce Bungie’s armor cosmetic system, Armor Synthesis. This will allow players to use any armor in their collections to change the appearance of the armor they are wearing, giving them their own unique and individual look. The process to make armor sets cosmetic was met with controversy from players due to the convoluted and difficulty behind it.

As part of the season pass, players will gain access to the new exotic sidearm, Chrystheisa 77K, which has the ability to freeze targets using Stasis. Joining the loot pool, each class will also gain access to new exotic boots: Hunters will get the Star-Eater Scales, which will allow them to feast on Orbs of Light to charge their super more quickly and make it more potent; Titans will get The Path of the Burning Steps, which will convert Solar eliminations into increased weapon damage and make them harder to lock down with Stasis; and Warlocks will get Boots of the Assembler, which will condense their healing or empowering rift into projectiles that seek allies.

The end of the trailer also teased that players will gain access to a  javelin made of Stasis.

Season of the Splicer launches May 11 and will run through Aug. 24. Check out the trailer for it below.
