Your favorite PS4 and PS5 games are no longer tied to your TV with Remote Play

Your favorite PS4 and PS5 games are no longer tied to your TV. With PlayStation’s Remote Play, you can stream your games from your console to your phone, tablet, laptop or desktop.

Remote Play is available on Android smartphones and tablets, iPhones and iPads, Windows PC and Mac, as well as your PS5 and PS4 consoles.

Remote Play is a free feature to all PS4 and PS5 owners. To use it, you need a PS4 or PS5 console hooked up to your home broadband network, one of the compatible devices listed above also on that network, the free PS remote play app, a DUALSHOCK 4 or DualSense controller, a network connection over 5Mbps and a compatible PlayStation game.

This feature cannot, however, be accessed over your mobile device’s cellular network. It requires a broadband internet connection with at least 5 Mbps. For the best experience, PlayStation recommends a broadband connection with 15 Mbps connected with a LAN cable.

Not only can you stream your PlayStation games on these devices, but you can connect your controller to your mobile device with Bluetooth and play your mobile games with it.

For mobile, any Android device running Android 7 or later and any Apple device running iOS 12.1 or higher can use Remote Play using screen controls. Androids running Android 10 or higher and Apple devices running iOS 13 or higher can connect a DUALSHOCK 4 controller over bluetooth. And, while the PS5’s DualSense controller cannot currently be connected with Android devices, Apple devices running iOS 14.5 or higher can connect and use it to play compatible mobile games. If the controller doesn’t show up in your bluetooth devices to pair, check your settings for a software update.

For desktop and laptops with the Remote Play app installed, Windows PCs running Windows 10 or higher can connect with the DUALSHOCK 4 or the DualSense controller with a wired connection. Mac computers running macOS Catalina or later can use the DUALSHOCK 4 controller wired or unwired over Bluetooth. Devices running macOS 11.3 or higher can do this with the DualSense.
